Detecting Government Fraud with AI Audits

The Comptroller and Auditor General of India (CAG) emphasized using AI and machine learning in forensic auditing. Digitization of auditing processes is a top priority to ensure remote audits with fewer hassles for the executive, timely reporting, and broader coverage including 100% checks of GST and IT databases. AI/ML has already helped expose a large number of fraudulent cases in several states. Remote audits can find tampering of electronic documents, saving states significant financial resources currently being siphoned off through fraudulent practices.
